Transfer Case Fitment Guide
Transfer cases have multiple variants even within the same year/make/model. This checklist helps you gather the info that makes matching fast and accurate.
1) Get the basics
- Year / Make / Model
- Drivetrain: AWD vs 4WD (and if it’s 2‑speed / has 4HI/4LO)
- ZIP code for freight shipping options
2) VIN is best (recommended)
Your VIN helps verify build options that affect interchange. You can usually find it:
- On the driver-side dashboard near the windshield
- On the driver door jamb sticker
- On your registration/insurance documents
3) Helpful details (if you have them)
- Trim/engine: some drivetrain options are trim-specific.
- Shift type: manual lever vs electronic switch/knob (varies by vehicle).
- Transfer-case ID tag / build code: often a metal tag or sticker on the case. If you can share the tag number, it speeds up verification.
- Symptoms: grinding, binding, no-4WD, fluid leak, etc. (helps us ask the right questions).
4) Want photos of the exact unit?
When available, we can request photos and ID details from the supplier before purchase. Add “photos requested” in your notes when you submit the quote form.
5) Shipping tips
- Repair shop/commercial delivery is usually the easiest option for freight.
- If shipping to a residence, ask about liftgate or terminal pickup options.
- Inspect freight at delivery and document any visible damage immediately.
